Landmines are returning to Europe, and the deep seas are facing unimaginable exploitation. We are in the midst of burning global crises – and traditional communication is no longer enough. On May 28th Visual Arena, Greenpeace and the Nobel Peace Prize-winning International Campaign to Ban Landmines invite you to the final event of the Narrative XR Lab. Discover how art, storytelling, and immersive XR technology are fused into powerful concepts with a single purpose: to cut through the noise and drive change. In a time defined by escalating global crises and a deeply polarized society, traditional communication has reached a breaking point. The news of disasters reaches us, but we fail to act at the pace required.For the first time in Sweden, we are now testing a communication hypothesis in a live, high-stakes environment: Can the physical presence of immersive technology (XR), combined with emotional storytelling, break through the noise and create the real impact that traditional media fails to achieve?In the Narrative XR Lab, cross-disciplinary teams of artists, developers, designers, and producers were given a unique mission: to explore XR for Good and ideate strong, visual concepts and experiences that can drive genuine societal change.The groups have based their work on two of our time's most acute global threats, in direct collaboration with the organizations standing on the frontlines: International Campaign to Ban Landmines (ICBL CMC): The Nobel Peace Prize-winning organization is currently working against the clock. In a tragic regression, several European countries have recently withdrawn from the landmine treaty – a direct threat to lives in Europe. Globally, the use of landmines is now more common than it was 20 years ago. How can XR mobilize public opinion around a threat many thought belonged to history?
